Lakeland is between two airports

I used to live in the north and was over 1.5 hours away from the local airport.

It is a small thing but it frequently becomes a problem.

My place of work constantly has me traveling. Their office is based out of the north too. Well I decided to move down south for the nicer weather. I figured it doesn’t matter where I travel from, as long as I have a decent home base. I knew my workplace would have me fly into the office every now and then. They also would ship me out to other locations. Being semi close to an airport was a must for me. I landed on Lakeland Florida. First, Florida offers me some of the best weather. It is warm most of the year. I can get by with tank tops and shorts for 90% of the time. The winter season is pathetic. It isn’t that cold. I don’t bother with a heavy duty jacket and I don’t own boots. Another thing is that I only turn on my heating system very briefly during the season. It is mainly for the night shift and on certain cold days. Most of the time I get by just fine. I also like that Lakeland puts me right between two airports. I can fly out of Tampa for very little money. It is only a 45 min drive there. Or I can choose to fly out of Orlando that is only an hour drive. I can pick and choose based on price. It is really convenient to have double the options for flights. The prices are always great and I can get a last minute flight easily.

Springfield disc golf

The Springfield-Greene County Park Board offers multiple locations to try out disc golf. That was something that had never appealed to me before. A group of my friends decided we needed to do something physical when we got together. Nobody is tall, buff or overlay athletic. That left not too many options. Disc golf is quite easy. You don’t really need to be all that in shape. You can easily hold a beer and chat with your buddies during it. In Missouri we have plenty of areas and good weather to play disc golf. My friends and I have gotten quite hardcare about our “sport” as well. The group of us really enjoy getting outside and chatting. It is a great way to catch up while doing something. I have been practicing my throwing skills while I am off from work. When the weather is good, I get right out to practicing. Someday I hope to be quite good at it. Right now I am not the worst guy on the team, but not the best. In Springfield, MO there are a lot of cool hobbies you can sink your teeth into. I recommend an older crowd to try out disc golf. There are tons of people interested and you can usually play. There are both indoor and outdoor venues for the sport as well. Golf is quite expensive if you want that to be your hobby. Disc golf is a fraction of the gear and a lot more fun in my opinion.

The summer lasts all year in Jacksonville

My brother was the one who brought my whole family to Jacksonville Florida.

  • We all lived up north in the cold, snow, and ice.

The temperatures would get down into the negative twenties. It wasn’t that unusual to deal with freezing temperatures on Halloween and all the way until Easter. The spring season isn’t pleasant at all. It is rainy and cold most of the time. In Jacksonville Florida, the temperatures are the opposite. It is hot and humid 90% of the time. It is just so brutal to deal with. The heat sort of sticks to you and makes it hard to breathe. In the summertime it isn’t really feasible to be outdoors. The winter season is like a northern summer. It is a pleasant 70 degrees and not humid at all. That is when I get the majority of my outdoor work done. I can trim some bushes, trees, and mow my lawn. I can’t paint the exterior of the house. The only con is that the pleasant weather doesn’t last more than two months. I wait all year for it though. My brother thought he was so smart coming to Florida. We all hate the snow and cold, how about the heat? While my whole family agrees that Jacksnville is a great place to end up, the weather isn’t really that much of a draw. Without proper AC, nobody could serve down here. I bet I could get by without a heater if I was determined enough. But there is no reason to do that.

Moving to Indiana due to work

My place of work constantly is moving people around and having them work at different offices.

If you are willing to move, you can get a serious pay increase and title change.

I am single, not close to my family, and totally motivated by money. I lived all over the United States. The most recent movie had me a little skeptical. My boss wanted me to go to Indiana, specifically South Bend. I worried that there would be nothing to do there. I also was very concerned about the snow. I have lived in hot states where my main concern was AC for years. Now changing gears to snow was really jarring. I found that I really like cold weather. The heat is just brutal. I hate sweating to death indoors and out. I don’t like having to use my air conditioner all the time. In South Bend I can get by without AC if I want to. I do that to save money. I only invest in quality heating equipment. I got my house outfitted with an oil furnace and I stock up on oil every winter season. That is good enough for me. I don’t mind the snow in IN either. I like shoveling and running in the snow for exercise. I am a husky dog that loves that I own a big plot of land. He goes crazy for the snow too. It is a way nicer area than I am used to and the people are friendly in Indiana. I also like that everything isn’t so liberal. The past states I was in were very much so. It has been a nice change and I hope to stay in South Bend for a while.

Alabama is a really great state

The reverse effect happens in the summer

Alabama is a really great state in my opinion. You don’t hear anything too radical left or right from Alabama. We are wholesome, put together and a happy community. I really enjoy that I live in a location with such great weather too. I could never live somewhere that is hot most of the year. I enjoy a good summer season to cool off in the AC and swimming in the pool. However, I don’t want it to be all the time. In Alabama we do get a winter season. Snow and below freezing temperatures are rare though. In my opinion, that is the best of the winter season. Getting cooler weather without the horrible, wet, cold snow? That is the best! We also get a nice fall and spring season. It is truly a four season state. Due to this I have been able to get by with a geothermal heat pump option for my Tuscaloosa home. I love that it is a green and energy efficient option in the HVAC field. The geothermal heat pump is buried underground and takes the existing heat energy in the winter season from there. Under the ground is much warmer than the air. That clean, fresh heat is then pumped indoors and my colder air is pumped outside. The reverse effect happens in the summer. Sure, the start-up costs were a bit much but now that I am going all year long, I am saving so much money. You can’t have geothermal HVAC in any state, but in Alabama it works great.
