Living in Portland, there are always fun activities available to us.

Last month, the six of us booked a sunset dinner cruise along the Willamette River. The trip offered amazing views of the Portland skyline and the best local landmarks. It lasted two-and-a-half hours, included live music and provided a really delicious meal. It was an extremely relaxing and enjoyable cruise. We were able to chat, sip wine and appreciate the scenery. The boat passed under Hawthorne, Ross Island and Marquam Bridge. We got a nice look at Sellwood riverfront park, Waverley Country Club and Elk Rock Island. Depending on the excursion, my friends and I like to partake in some cannabis to enhance the experience. We usually make a stop at the downtown Portland dispensary and load up on some high THC percentage strains. While we all enjoy smoking pre-rolls or taking advantage of the convenience of vapes, we couldn’t use any inhalation methods on the boat. We needed something more discreet. We considered edibles but didn’t want to load up our purses with gummies, cookies or candies that might melt. After quite a bit of debate, we chose a tincture to share. The advantage of a tincture is the compact packaging. The tiny bottle tucks easily into a pocket and includes a dropper for easy dosing. All it takes is a couple of drops under the tongue to achieve quick onset of effects. There is no extra gear required. Consumption creates no mess, waste, smoke, ash or odors. Tinctures are one of the more discreet methods and yet provide high ratios of cannabinoids and terpenes. They are available in a wide variety of flavors and strains and offer a long shelf-life.

My friends and I like to explore various parts of Los Angeles on the weekends when we’re off from work.

Yesterday we went hiking on the trail to Mount Wilson and were able to get some amazing photos in the process.

Even if they’re not massive behemoths, I still enjoy scaling smaller mountains because it’s an enjoyable experience. I started doing this when I was raised in the upper peninsula of Michigan. We lived close to the Porcupine Mountains which are more characteristic of the foothills of the Appalachians than any larger peaks, but that doesn’t detract from their natural beauty. This is what I stress with people when they complain about the “hills” in california opposed to “proper mountains.” You don’t need huge mountain peaks to get a great view of the city below. It’s what draws me to the Santa Monica Mountains throughout the year when the weather is pleasant. My most recent visit to the area took me to Corbin Canyon Park. I made the mistake of getting so high that I felt glued to the ground walking on the natural trails. The indica strain I purchased at a nearby dispensary in Tarzana made me so tired while hiking that I wanted to stop and lay on the ground to take a nap. The next time I go hiking on one of the various nature trails in the Tarzana area, I’m going to use less cannabis or find an energizing sativa strain instead of a sedating indica strain. I should have known that an indica would give me trouble, but they’re not always extremely sedating varieties of weed. Some indicas feel more like hybrids than anything else.

I recently moved to a neighborhood in south Ann Arbor near the border to Saline and I couldn’t be happier.

I was born in the deep south and was getting sick of living in a humid swamp that was full of gators, venomous snakes, and insects large enough to pick you up and carry you away.

My cousins were living in Ypsilanti at the time so we would visit them every three to four years at their home there. It was nice because they would take us to Ford Lake to go swimming. It’s sad that the lake isn’t as safe these days as it was back then, but there are plenty of other cleaner lakes in other parts of Washtenaw County. Aside from the water, another reason I love Michigan so much is the new recreational cannabis law. Users are allowed to have 2.5 ounces of cannabis flower buds on them in public, or 10 ounces at home. You’re also allowed to grow up to 12 plants for personal use, but they have to be out of view from the public. However, few know that Ann Arbor has a particularly loose mindset with cannabis use going back to the early 1970s. That’s when they passed the famous $5 pot fine for people busted for possession. The cops would take your weed and give you a $5 ticket. Nowadays the fine is still in place, but it’s no longer $5. I’d rather follow the Michigan state cannabis rules and use my marijuana products at home away from public spaces. There’s no reason to press your luck these days with recreational cannabis being legal.

Last year, I wanted to take a road trip to the Midwest part of the country, and I could not settle on what town or town I should visit, after searching the internet for a couple of hours, I finally found a blog about Evansville, IN, and I was blown away by how much there is to do in that city, however so, I did not hesitate to pack our car up, and start our trip to explore this good town.

I had an entire itinerary planned. It included visiting several of the museums, and I also went to the Angels Mounds State Historic Site which is a prehistoric Native American site, but while I was there, I was able to go to a baseball game and I spent some time downtown by the river. And of course, I visited the infamous Self.e Alley where I was able to take some pictures to remember our trip, and post on social media. While I was there, I was surprised at how beautiful the weather was. I visited the town in Springtime of last year, and there were days where I didn’t even need a overcoat. In fact, a couple of the days the weather was in the mid-70s. I stayed in a hotel near the OH River, and I didn’t use the air conditioner in our room, but because it was so close to the river, the temperature in the room stayed at about 73 degrees. At home, I keep our thermostat at 70 degrees so 73 was pretty comfortable to sleep in. I loved Evansville, and I plan to visit that town again.
