Time your vacation to Florida with the weather

It is funny but I have lived in Florida for about five years and I have always wanted to go to St.

Petersburg.

It isn’t that far, maybe a three hour drive. It just seemed really hard to get there in my head. One day I mentioned to my husband that I always wanted to visit there. I wanted to sit on the beach in a swanky hotel. I wanted to shop, go to the spa, and maybe walk around the city of St. Petersburg. My husband was astonished at how cheap and doable my dream location was. For my birthday we went to St. Petersburg. My husband gambled, played a round of gold, and got a massage. I got a facial, laid on the beach, and hit the fitness center. It was a great trip for the two of us. The best part was the weather in St. Petes. We went during the early spring season. It was almost too cold to go in the water. We got a smoking deal at the hotel though. Since we weren’t in peak season nothing was sold out or bumped up in cost. The two of us agree that if we travel anywhere in Florida we need to go in Spring or fall. Honestly the summer season is the one people travel during but it is too hot for us. I don’t want to hit the beach in 90 degree weather. I would rather take a dip in 70 degrees if I had to pick. I don’t want to risk a burn at all.

Might want to upgrade to heated flooring

It will add quite an expense already to the hefty heating installation bill

I have looked into purchasing heated flooring for my house in Springfield, MO. The reason is that the winter season in Missouri is just brutal. It is long and lingers for months on end. September to May can be really freezing and require the heating system to be on. I own a central heater that does an okay job. The thing is, all the heat rises to my ceiling. The top floor feels warm but the bottom area is freezing. That is why I have to constantly up my thermostat, wear slippers, and I don’t feel warm enough. When you blast air, the warm particles are lighter than the cold, so the rise. There is nothing I can do about it. I have been toying with heated flooring since it uses electricity. There are electric heated mats under the floorboards. No heated air rises, it stays where you want it. Anything that touches the flooring feels warm as a result. It is silent, clean, and energy smart. The only downside is that you need to completely redo your flooring to install this system. The current floor must be ripped up to the barebones. Then the cement board goes down, then the mats, and then the new flooring. It will add quite an expense already to the hefty heating installation bill. I am still pondering it though. I think I am going to call a Springfield heating dealer to see if they can give me some price quotes. I want to know if it is possible for me or if it is too expensive.

Springfield Missouri furnace/heater repair

A furnace is a lot of work but what choice do I have?

In South Bend it gets seriously cold.

  • My family utilizes a gas furnace for most of the year.

The gas furnace is hooked up to ductwork that is stretched throughout the house. No matter what room you are in, you are getting even levels of heat. I am not sold on a furnace honestly. For Indiana winters, a furnace is probably the most common type of system. You heat the entire house and it is quite reliable. I don’t like being dependent on gas, since the price escalates a lot. I also don’t like that a furnace has quite a bit of maintenance. With a gas furnace you need to ensure you get regular heating service. Without South Bend heating service, the furnace could easily clog up with dust and this leads to a whole mess of problems. A dirty furnace can overheat. This can be lighting on fire, releasing carbon monoxide, or requiring a very expensive heater repair. It is a safety and health hazard when not appropriately cared for. Also, a furnace can easily become inefficient without regular oiling, lubricating and cleaning. This machine can quickly up the energy bill if you are negligent. I don’t like being on the hook every fall for Indiana heating service, but what else am I going to do? I have looked at the other heating options out there, and nothing can really combat our cold. So I think I might be stuck with what I got. That is not ideal. I really wished I didn’t have the service work.

Funky smell coming from my AC

For a long time anytime my cooling system ran it had a funny smell.

That was unfortunate since I live in Tuscaloosa, AL.

That means the AC system was constantly running. It smelled like a musty, wet basement. I tried spraying a cleaner. I tried mopping the floors. I also tried putting those wall plug scent things. It never seemed to help. So then I started trying to find out what was the cause of the stinky odor. I looked all around and decided it was my cooling equipment. I changed the air filter and realized that is where my expertise is done. So I got on the phone and called a Tuscaloosa AC business to get me started. The AC contractor for Alabama was really great. The guy checked every part of my AC system. He inspected the ductwork and found it clean. He looked at the outdoor unit. Then he tore up the inside unit and found the root of the problem. I had mold on my cooling coil. As the AC operated, the air was blowing over the coil and leading to that awful smell. The guy simply cleaned it up, put some vinegar through the system and it was right as rain. ACs are wet systems and clogging up with mold, mildew, algae, and other bacteria is quite normal. I know I am going to be better about Alabama AC service since I don’t want to deal with that funky odor again. I don’t want to have that wet basement smell or be breathing in mold spores. That isn’t healthy at all.

Mini split for my woodworking

I have recently gotten into woodworking.

I used to do it as a hobby and now it is like a part time job. Pretty soon I am going to quit my full time job and do this instead. I love making furniture out of pieces of wood. I love getting custom orders in and making them exactly what they want. It is a dream come true for me. I have seriously upgraded my workspace to be the perfect area to cut and shape wood. It started out in my garage and now I have an on site facility in my home. The shed is not attached to the house but nearby. I invested in cement floors that are easy to clean up. I have high ceilings to store the pieces of wood. I have multiple windows, two doors, and a top of the line HVAC unit. Getting a ductless mini split was a game changer. I love that I have both heating and cooling functions. Living in Phoenix, Arizona means that I use the AC way more than the heater. I have a wireless thermostat that allows me to set the thermostat from virtually anywhere. I have a program set to begin cooling as soon as I get out of work. By the time I make it to my shed, it is totally cold and comfortable. I also have it set on the weekends to heat once the winter season happens. It can get down into the 40s during the winter. I don’t want to do woodworking in the cold. With my ductless HVAC option, I never have to be unforgettable.
