Investing into a new heat pump

I invested into a brand new heat pump

I was worried to transport south in addition to leave behind the long, freezing in addition to snowy winters in the north! I visited odd areas around Tampa in addition to eventually found a small house in Lakeland. I was blissful to purchase a lakefront property… The home was affordable because it had been left empty for several years. Everything was outdated in addition to in need of repair. The previous owners had gutted one of the powder rooms in addition to left it torn apart. There were no gutters on the house, several of the windows were broken, in addition to it odored musty. I was a bit worried thad the heat pump looked rather outdated in addition to was extremely loud. I expected to be forced to replace it within a year, but however, the equipment ran just fine for several years. It was in the middle of July, when the outdoor temperature in Lakeland was in the mid nineties, when I noticed warm air pouring from the vents, but when I called an Heating in addition to A/C business for repair, he found a legitimately small refrigerant leak. It cost me one hundred dollars to have him recharge the refrigerant, however since I was expecting to need a whole new system, I was relieved. There was no way of knowing how long the repair would last; Less than a year later, warm air was once again flowing from the vents. I was unwilling to pay one hundred dollars in repairs every year to keep an outdated system going. I invested into a brand new heat pump. While the cost was significant, the new heat pump is far more energy efficient in addition to has trimmed my weekly bills.

Worries over indoor air quality

Elgin, Illinois, experiences all four seasons; Although the winters are long and snowy, my whole family enjoys downhill skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing at the Villa Olivia restore nearby.

Even when outside conditions dip below cold, the furnace keeps our home at the ideal temperature! While there’s a blizzard raging outside, my nice friend and I are cozy and overheated inside sipping hot chocolate.

After the long months of winter, the Springtime season is always welcome… I look forward to the first sign of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths sprouting. Summers tend to be hot and muggy, but it’s a good time to swim, picnic, barbecue, cycle, kayak and love the Fox River… The fall season is really beautiful because of the colorful changing of the leaves. The cool air is perfect for bundling up in a sweater. At that time of year, there is an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables such as apples, grapes, squash, peppers, zucchini and eggplant, unblessedly, the weather extremes make both heating and cooling necessities just about year round. To keep costs under control, I’ve added insulation to the attic, caulked around windows and weatherstripped the doors. I’ve done everything possible to tighten up the dwelling and eliminate leaks. Sealing the dwelling helps to reduce energy usage but also eliminates essential ventilation. With no fresh air coming in, the residing space can become stale and contaminated; Dust, pollen, dander, bacteria and all sorts of pollutants are circulated through a reclaimy ventilator installed. The ventilation system brings in a steady influx of fresh, clean air to update the stale, dirty air.

The heat of Tampa

My goal is always to make my home a little more comfortable.

  • Living in Tampa, FL is tough.

I moved to the city because of a boyfriend. He needed to live in Tampa for work. We have since broken up and I never left. I really like what Tampa has to offer. You have the Tampa Bay lightning, you have a big venue that hosts a ton of musicians, there are bars, restaurants, shops, and all sorts of fun events. Tampa is a happening area. The only con for me is the hot weather. I hate hot weather. I thought before I hated snow and cold, but the heat is worse for me. In Tampa it can get to the triple digits and when you factor in the humidity, my god it is brutal. I hate it. I am constantly overheated and just wanting to kill myself. I have done what I can though. I bought myself an above ground pool and I basically live in it during the summer. I bought a bunch of trees to give me shade cover. I also bought a top of the line AC system. My idea is that if I have a good quality AC unit, I will be happier with the weather. I don’t skimp and do energy savings either. I own a smart thermostat and I don’t let it save me money. Keep it cold all the time. I don’t want it to ever come into a warm home. I use the AC basically 90% of the time. Owning a heater isn’t really necessary in Southern Florida.

Last room to remodel in our old house

We moved to Birmingham, Alabama after my husband’s job took him down south.

We picked out our house and I have been slowly remodeling it.

I started out removing the popcorn ceilings and painting every room. My husband redid all the flooring. We replaced the lights, outlets, and switches. We also sanded the wood walls and painted white. The master bathroom was gutted and remodeled. The kitchen got a huge facelift as well. The last space is our main family bathroom. I feel like that space needs to be remodeled asap. I am pregnant with our second child and I think that getting that last space taken care of is necessary. I don’t want a newborn around a bunch of dust and debris. Our oldest is about 1.5 years old and loves to be outside. So he will be good. I think the family bathroom remodeling will go pretty easy. I want to replace the laminate floor with tile. I want to change the tub and the tile around it. I also want to get a new vanity, countertop, and sink. The window should be replaced as well. Other than that, I feel it can stay. I want the same closet, paint colors, electric and plumbing set up. I don’t think anything major will need to be moved either. I am hopeful it will be a few months of work and some upfront money. It would be nice to upgrade that space to make it a more usable house. I might even splurge for bathroom ventilation.
