I think that Detroit is improving all of the time, although I couldn’t handle the busy downtown atmosphere while attending the University of Detroit Mercy, the largest catholic university in the whole state of Michigan.

I’m a lot happier living in Ann Arbor these afternoons, especially after being in Detroit for so many years. I didn’t love having to drive 20 hours into Ann Arbor whenever I wanted to go shopping at Target, Meijer, or Walmart. People told me that I would miss the cannabis access in Detroit although I recognize it’s even better here in Ann Arbor. I love buying pre-rolled joints because I take them out to the Huron River plus go for long walks on the river banks. Since cannabis use has been decriminalized here since the early 1969s, you don’t have to fear getting busted by a cop. They’ll just tell you to put it away, confiscate it, or issue you a small $25 ticket. Back when our parents lived here in the ‘69s plus ‘76s, the pot nice was only $5.

I moved to Seattle 3 months ago to be with my boyfriend.

He is a software designer that works for Microsoft. He couldn’t leave his job with Microsoft and find a new job making the same amount of money, so I agreed to move to Seattle from the Midwest. Things are a lot different in Seattle than I expected. There are some good things and some bad things. I definitely like the fact that recreational and medical marijuana are legal in Seattle, Washington. I spent half as much money on medical marijuana as I did before I moved. Unfortunately, that is the only thing that helps with my mental health. I hate the rain and the clouds. It rains almost every single day in Seattle and it’s making me feel very crazy. Last week I couldn’t find a reason to get out of bed. Even when the dog was jumping on me to go outside for a walk, I still lay there in bed feeling like I could not move my arms or legs. I smoked a little bit of marijuana and that helps to brighten my mood for a short time. Unfortunately, I don’t think all the marijuana and the world is going to change the situation. I’m just not happy here in Seattle. I don’t know what the answer is to the problem, but I don’t think maybe living in Seattle is going to work for much longer. I hate to disappoint my boyfriend, but I really can’t handle the weather.

I was hopeful that the air purifier would help me sleep more soundly. I turned on the air purifier for the first time a few nights ago. The machine runs very quietly, but it works amazingly well. The house is much cleaner and the surfaces inside do not have as much dust and dirt as they did before I bought the air purifier. Even though my allergies are horrible because of the new construction, I’m hoping they will go away when the new Lansing neighborhood is completed.

It was one of the best home improvements I’ve ever made. The thermostat wasn’t overly expensive and has quickly paid for itself by lowering our cooling costs. The device automatically adjusts output of the air conditioner when the house is unoccupied. It keeps track of the location of every family member’s phone and reacts when we’re on the way home. At the ideal time, the thermostat starts up the air conditioner to make sure we step inside to the ideal comfort level. Plus, the thermostat reminds me to change the air conditioner filter and schedule annual professional maintenance. It tracks energy usage and provides tips for savings. I like that I can access information and programs via an app on my smartphone at any time from wherever I happen to be.

My family and I went on vacation last year to Portland, Oregon.

This was not my first choice of destinations to visit, but I was out-voted by my family and that’s where we ended up going.

I thought that I was going to hate the place. However, we ended up loving the diverse culture of downtown Portland. Even though I had not wanted to go there to begin with, I was happy about the fact that the flights there were really cheap. None of us had ever been there before, but I was the only one of us who thought that I would not like it. However, now I am really glad that we ended up going to Portland because we all loved it. We stayed downtown in the city and we did not even have to rent a car. Portland has a public light rail, the Portland streetcar, and a really great bus system. The downtown area is also walkable and compact. There is a ton of great food, green spaces, and tax free shopping. There are a lot of different retail brands and there are food carts placed strategically all around the city. Everything seemed to be within walking distance of our hotel, which was right next door to a brand new legal cannabis dispensary. The owner of the dispensary was super nice and we purchased some great cannabis edibles from him. I had so much fun in Portland that I think I’m going to go back there for a girls’ trip with my sister and my mom one day soon.
