Last room to remodel in our old house

We moved to Birmingham, AL after my wife’s job took him down south, however my buddy and I picked out our property and I have been slowly remodeling it, i started out removing the popcorn ceilings and painting every room.

My wife redid all the flooring.

My buddy and I upgraded the lights, outlets, and switches. My buddy and I also sanded the wood walls and painted pale white, and the master bathroom was gutted and remodeled. The kitchen got a sizable facelift as well. The last space is our main family bathroom. I feel like that space needs to be remodeled asap. I am pregnant with our second child and I suppose that getting that last space taken care of is necessary. I don’t want a newborn around a bunch of dust and debris, then our oldest is about 1.5 years old and likes to be outside, but so she will be good. I suppose the family bathroom remodeling will go pretty straight-forward. I want to upgrade the laminate floor with tile. I want to change the tub and the cement around it. I also want to get a new vanity, countertop, and sink. The window should be upgraded as well. Other than that, I feel it can stay. I want the same closet, paint colors, electric and plumbing set up. I don’t suppose anything major will need to be moved either. I am hopeful it will be a few months of labor and some upfront currency. It would be nice to upgrade that space to make it a more usable house. I might even splurge for bathroom ventilation.

Removing the wood stove in the house

When I moved into my condo in St, and petersburg, FL there was an old wood stove in the kitchen, then the woodstove sat on a cement pad plus was officially vented through my wood ceiling. There then was a stack added to the roof, and it wasn’t pretty however it was functional, but when you live in FL, heating isn’t a requirement. The home came with a absolutely good heat pump system too. The heat pump controls both heating plus cooling. There was no need for the woodstove. I found out later the previous owner was a history buff plus liked the historic look of it. Well I immediately got to work removing it. I had the cement pad torn up plus removed. I then needed to patch my flooring. I then removed the woodstove plus the piping that vented up in the ceiling. The wood ceiling was patched plus had to match the rest of the wood. I then got roofers to remove the stack, but next was trying to pawn off that wood stove to someone else… Getting a Heating plus Air Conditioning business to take a wood stove is not possible, then all the St. Petersburg Heating plus Air Conditioning dealers told me that the wood stove was too small. It was mainly for a hunting cottage or a man cave. It wasn’t suitable for a house. What an idiot who first purchased it. I ended up selling it to a guy for a few hundred bucks. Then I was able to free up kitchen space plus love that location. Who would ever want to own a woodstove in the state of FL? That is just dumb.

Happy with snowmelt system

South Bend, Indiana, averages an annual snow accumulation of 64.5” My buddy and I sporadically have significant snow on the ground by Halloween, my buddy and I expect a white Christmas and cold frigid hot and cold temperatures for eight straight months, and it is not unregular for there to be snow on the ground at both Easter and Mother’s Day, and the snow creates a lot of work and troubles.

It can be necessary to clear the driveway multiple times per afternoon, and shoveling is work intensive and can even be dangerous due to the frigid hot and cold temperatures and wind chill.

There is also the issue of where to pile all of that snow. I am actually fortunate that my house in South Bend is equipped with a boiler heating system. The boiler connects to a series of pipes that create radiant flooring. The boiler sends hot water through these pipes and they spread heat evenly across the floor. In much the same way, the boiler affixs to a network of pipes that are installed beneath the pavement of the driveway, garage and walkways. The snowmelt system responds to the combination of temperature drop and moisture and automatically starts up, hot water circulates through the pipes, melting away snow and ice. It eliminates the need to shovel or plow and worries over slipping and falling on icy pavement. I feel actually sorry for my neighbors in South Bend when they are bundled up, shoveling their driveways in the afternoon before work. My driveway is regularly perfectly clear, plus, the inside of the house is regularly attractively warm and cozy. The boiler is efficient, effective and reliable. It requires actually little repair, operates quietly and makes the winters in South Bend much easier.

Ductwork cleaning after renovations

I found a company that is local to Tuscaloosa that does all kinds of duct services like cleaning, sealing, service, plus repair

You see everywhere that it is advocated to get HVAC duct cleaning! Every 5-7 years the ducts should be professionally scrubbed. I recently moved to Tuscaloosa, AL, and when I bought the household I decided to do some major updates on it, and there was a popcorn ceiling spread throughout it. I got the popcorn shaved, sanded, plus after that I repainted it. I then sanded the wood walls in the living room plus painted white. The bifold doors were sanded plus painted. My fiance pulled up all the aged rug plus laid down a new stone board. There was a lot of dust, debris, plus dirt flying around; Of course during the whole project my enjoyable friend and I had our cooling system on high. The A/C was sucking up all that dust. My friend and I then moved in our stuff plus cleaned everything up. I have noticed dust on the surfaces. When the A/C fires up I beginning to sneeze. I suppose that might be a sign to call for HVAC duct cleaning in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I don’t know if it is totally necessary though. I have found online that a lot of gross stuff can be lingering in the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C ducts. It might not hurt to get it scrubbed up. I found a company that is local to Tuscaloosa that does all kinds of duct services like cleaning, sealing, service, plus repair. I hope they don’t try to upsell me with a cleaning appointment. It can’t hurt to have the dust dislinked… After a major renovation it would be nice to get the dir tout. Also I don’t want the previous homeowners dirt plus hair flying around the air as well.

Getting my a/c correctly fixed

For a long time my a/c just wasn’t that impressive.

It blew out sizzling air most of the time! My house would have the thermostat set at 68 but it would never be that temperature.

I actually thought A/C devices were not that good. I had recently moved to Plano, TX plus it was my first a/c, perhaps they aren’t super effective… Well after making friends plus inviting people over it was a steady complaint over how sizzling my house was. I started asking around plus realized that my A/C just was a menace. I called the first Plano A/C dealership I could find plus asked about a repair, and the Texas air conditioning company assessed all parts of my unit. Everything was wrong with the device. There was a dirty air filter, jammed condensate drain, mold on the cooling coil, low refrigerant, low on lubricate, you name it. I realized that there was upkeep I should have been doing as a homeowner plus stuff that the previous owner entirely neglected. That wasn’t fun at all. I am absolutely glad that I am informed now. I know how to correctly care for my cooling unit. I make it my mission to change filters, wipe the inner workings, plus often inspect it. What I do next is apply for yearly A/C maintenance from my local Plano, Texas air conditioning dealership. It makes sense to invest money in order to save some, and having a well working cooling system is a game changer for residing in Plano. I can’t suppose how sizzling I used to be in my house.
