Jessy didn’t expect to meet anyone she’d like while visiting her aunt in Lowell, MA. Her plans were to drive to her aunt’s home and make sure she was doing okay. Driving in the snow wasn’t her best experience, but it was a good way to decompress and relax. Jessy was also reeling from her break up. Then she got her phone and began scrolling on social media. That when a voice jolted her and there stood a guy who was smiling at her. He introduced himself, complemented Jessy, and asked to join her to enjoy the heat. They ended up having a lovely conversation and he asked her out for dinner the next evening. After touring lots of houses and exploring several different areas, we found the perfect property for sale in Lakeland, Florida. We now divide our time between two homes. We live up north during the summer and down south for the winter. We no longer need to arrive at a freezing cold or overheated home.

I’ve had a lot of firsts with my grandpa. My first NFL football game was at the Ralph Wilson Stadium, and now I am going to my first hockey game. I never realized Grandpa was such a spirited sports fan until I went to stay with him and Grandma. They sent Mom overseas, and she left me with Grandma and Grandpa. Thanks to Grandpa, I was learning to love sports and having a great time. He didn’t give me time to feel sorry for myself, not having Mom home with me. I remembered Mom doing the same thing when Dad talked about going to baseball games. Mom always thought it was just another way to get away from the kids, but Grandpa thought it was a great way to get me interested in something other than computers. He told me the First Niagara Centre was the home of the National Hockey League’s Buffalo Sabres. I had never heard of the Buffalo Sabres, but I was about to learn. He told me to get a heavy sweatshirt. I thought the hockey game was going to be outside, and he frowned. He told me no one played real hockey outside in the summer. We were going to an ice skating rink where you could see real hockey being played. I donned my sweatshirt, knowing that even though it was sixty outside, the First Niagara Centre was going to be frigid from all the air conditioning needed to keep the ice from melting. Even the ice skating rink needs air conditioning in the summer.

When I found out I was pregnant, I knew I didn’t want to raise my child in the city.

Crime rates were going up, and I didn’t want to worry every time my child was playing or going to school. I was afraid to walk down the city streets and wondered if I was going to make it home from work. I knew most of my worries were unfounded, but now I had a new life to look out for. I considered the crime rate in every area before deciding. My mom lived in Elgin, IL, and she told me it was a pleasant area for kids and families. My husband would not be too far from the city, and he would have an easy commute. Mom lived on the outskirts of the city, and I started doing my research. I found out that the crime rate was lower than most cities, but it was still on the low side of average. The statistics said there were an average of 12 crimes per 1000 people as an average city crime rate. This still seemed high to me, but I had to not just think of me and the baby, but my husband. He not only had to travel back and forth to work, whether it was snowing and 30, like in January, or scorching, and 90 in July. I gave a lot of thought to where I wanted to raise my child. The biggest draw of living in Elgin, IL, was that my mom was there. I could get a job, and my baby would have his grandmother all day. I wouldn’t be handing him off to a strange babysitter that I didn’t know if she was a criminal, or one of her family members were criminals.

When you are certified to work as a heating and AC repair technician, there are a lot of different jobs that you can do. I went to school to learn heating and AC repair and installation work. I became a Nate Certified Technician 2 years ago. I started working as a repair technician in St. Petersburg, Florida. I was living in Tampa Bay at the time and the St. Petersburg HVAC business was hiring. I worked for the St. Petersburg HVAC business for a year and then I found a job working at the hospital. I prefer working at the hospital, because every day is different. I never know what jobs I am going to be working on. I spent two days trying to figure out what was wrong with the system and how I could fix it for good. The next day I worked in the hospital kitchen on a mini split ductless AC unit problem. The next day I was working on an air purifier in the lobby. From one day to the next, I never know what I’m going to be doing. When I was working as a repair technician, most of the time the jobs were the same. I’m having a lot more fun at the new job.
