My new pet doesn't like being at home all day alone

After my girlfriend and I broke up, I was alone all the time.

I told my therapist that I was feeling depressed.

I told her that I was thinking about calling my ex-girlfriend to see what she was up to. My therapist suggested it might be a better idea to get a pet. I went to the local city shelter and visited with some of the cats and dogs. The city shelter had two parakeets, a set of lovebirds, and an iguana as well, but I knew that those animals would require way more work than I was willing to give. I also work a lot of long hours at the Albuquerque heating and AC repair business. I needed a pet that would not require use of the bathroom every few hours. I tend to work 10 or 12 hour days on the weekends and I didn’t want to worry about my pet being miserable. I went to the shelter a couple of nights after I was done working at the heating and AC repair shop. There was one dog that seemed to really like me. He was an older German Shepherd and Pitbull mix. That dog was really cute and friendly and he seemed to like me a lot. The lady at the Albuquerque business told me that the dog would be a great fit for my needs and my schedule and suggested that I take the pet home for a weekend. I took the dog home on Friday and by Sunday afternoon, I was ready to sign all of the paperwork and adopt a new companion.
