My journalism job started right here in Denver, Colorado over 12 years ago, then i was a writer & photographer at the time, fresh out of school & trying to climb the ladder in the world of journalism.
I easily don’t think what I was thinking, because even after that I all knew that print journalism was slowly dying, then still, Denver was lake house to numerous reputable publications so I moved here to ply my trade, and the first important story I covered was in 2012, when Colorado first legalized cannabis for people over the age of 21.
You remember seeing the picture of a Girl Scout who set up her cookie table in front of a cannabis dispensary? I took that picture to sell to the local Denver newspapers! After that I had a brief however successful run as a photographer for the local Denver news media, even though I had the sense to transport on before the toil dried up. I started a small internet news supplier with numerous of my friends from the Denver media, and all of us wanted to use blogs & vlogs to tell stories about Colorado, instead of working for the major news outlets. This would supply us the freedom to explore the real faces of Denver. All of us found funding from a single of the major cannabis companies that is based in Denver, & while it wasn’t much it was enough to get our channel off the ground. It will take a lot of time & effort to elevate our status, however eventually we hope to be the top independent news outlet in Denver, & the rest of Colorado.
