I first visited Albuquerque about 10 years before moving here. It was a family vacation and we were driving through the city on our way to a family gathering further north. Unfortunately, it was such a brief experience that I didn’t get to see much of the city. When I eventually moved here for work years later, I wanted to know about the local attractions and historical landmarks. If you want to spend time outdoors, you can’t go wrong with the popular Petroglyph National Monument on the westside of Albuquerque off Unser Blvd. If you make your way to Atrisco Vista Blvd you can catch sight of the three volcanoes. The eastside of Albuquerque sports the Sandia Mountains which include Cibola National Forest and Sandia Peak. No matter what sort of outdoor excitement you’re looking for, Albuquerque is sure to have it. Indoor shopping is perfect in Old Town, which is the oldest district in downtown Albuquerque. In fact, I found a new air conditioning and furnace store while browsing Old Town, Albuquerque today. It’s on Rio Grande Blvd and has barely been open for more than two months now. Even though Albuquerque isn’t short of heating and cooling contractors, it’s nice to meet a new company face to face instead of trying to trust television commercials and radio ads. The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce is also extremely helpful in providing business referrals regardless of what you’re looking for while you’re here. I am proud of living in a place like Albuquerque, New Mexico with its rich cultural heritage and mild climate.
