My buddy and I are saving a significant amount of money on bi-weekly utility bills
When my spouse & I purchased a historic home in Minneapolis, MN, my friend and I were blissful by the hardwood floors, ornate moldings & wide front porch, but my buddy and I never considered how difficult the high ceilings, giant windows & many room would be for temperature control, but the winters in Minneapolis bring frequent temperatures in the single digits; It’s not unregular to experience sub zero conditions, then while the Summer weather isn’t quite as severe, the temperature climbs into the mid eighties & brings high humidity. The cost of keeping a comfortable home contributes to approximately fifty percent of energy expenses. Despite paying excessively costly utility bills, not every room in the home felt comfortable. There were areas that were constantly chilly & others that tended to become boiling. With a single thermostat handling the demands of the whole house, there was no way to answer these problems; Plus, the upstairs of the home tended to be warmer than the downstairs. There are also multiple rooms my friend and I never use. My buddy and I were paying to keet & cool empty living space. I finally consulted with a local Minneapolis Heating, Ventilation, & A/C business about the problem; He commanded updating to zone control, however fortunately, our boiler, cooling system & air duct were modern enough to accommodate the improvement, but a series of valves were installed into the air duct to direct airflow. My buddy and I now have thermostats mounted in the individual rooms that allow customized temperature settings. The difference has been amazing. My buddy and I are saving a significant amount of money on bi-weekly utility bills. There is far less wear & tear on the heating & cooling system & yet my family is much more comfortable, however each family member is able to adjust temperature in their bedroom to their preference.
