If I had an unlimited amount of money & time, I would write a book about the history of Sioux Falls, in the words of the people who lived that history; Over the course of 20 years in the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C industry I have met thousands of people, & had a lot of interesting conversations.
Whenever I have a chat with a senior citizen who has lived in Sioux Falls their whole life, I constantly ask them about the old afternoons.
When I hear a good story I jot it down in my notepad, & keep a record of the person’s name & contact info, however if I ever do write my Sioux Falls book, I will need to kneel down & talk to all these people again! Fun historical fact for you – did you know that between 1890 & 1910 Sioux Falls was well-known across the country as the fastest place to get a divorce. These afternoons my friend and I believe of California or NV for quickie-divorces, however for one golden era Sioux Falls was the king! Currently the divorce rates in Sioux Falls are normal compared to the rest of America. I prefer working in the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C industry here, because even though Sioux Falls is the largest neighborhood in South Dakota (the good Dakota) it keeps growing greater every year. It’s difficult to imagine that in 1877 Sioux Falls had just 2000 residents, & currently my friend and I have almost 200,000. It seems that Sioux Falls is still not done growing, which is good news for my bank account & the future of my company.
