Interesting history in Sioux Falls

If I had an unlimited amount of money and time, I would write a book about the history of Sioux Falls, in the words of the people who lived that history.

Over the course of 20 years in the HVAC industry I have met thousands of people, and had a lot of interesting conversations.

Whenever I have a chat with a senior citizen who has lived in Sioux Falls their whole life, I always ask them about the old days. When I hear a good story I jot it down in my notepad, and keep a record of the person’s name and contact info. If I ever do write my Sioux Falls book, I will need to sit down and talk to all these people again. Fun historical fact for you – did you know that between 1890 and 1910 Sioux Falls was well-known across the country as the fastest place to get a divorce. These days we think of California or Nevada for quickie-divorces, but for one golden era Sioux Falls was the king! Currently the divorce rates in Sioux Falls are normal compared to the rest of America. I love working in the HVAC industry here, because even though Sioux Falls is the largest city in South Dakota (the good Dakota) it keeps growing larger every year. It’s hard to imagine that in 1880 Sioux Falls had just 2000 residents, and currently we have almost 200,000. It seems that Sioux Falls is still not done growing, which is great news for my bank account and the future of my company.
