Alcatraz Island was used as a fort, military prison, and a federal penitentiary.
Today, it is owned by the National Park Service.
Golden Gate National Recreation Area includes Alcatraz Island. The island has more than a million visitors every year. There are guided and self tours available. My wife and I decided to take our children to Alcatraz Island last weekend. Our kids are 10, 12, and 13 years old. We thought it would be a fun and interesting learning experience. I visited Alcatraz Island when I was younger, but I had not been back in 20 years. On our way to Alcatraz Island, my wife and I stopped at a cannabis dispensary. Cannabis is legal in California and the prices of weed are expensive in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since we were going to Alcatraz Island in the San Francisco bay area, we decided to stop someplace closer to home. The cannabis dispensary was having a sale on vape pen cartridges, so my wife and I each picked up a disposable vape pen for our visit to San Francisco. Unfortunately, our visit didn’t go as planned. As soon as we entered the secure area, my son started to complain about stomach cramps. I thought he had to use the bathroom, so we went to look for a restroom. We got lost looking for the toilet. We ended up in a room with no windows and creepy sounds. I really think the place is haunted. No one else was in the room with my son and I, but I still heard screams and moans coming from somewhere.
