The car rolled backwards and hit another driver

I thought learning how to drive in the snow was difficult, but learning how to drive in San Francisco is even worse.

There are hundreds of hills and sharp turns.

My husband and I bought a house on the side of a mountain. When we moved to San Francisco in the 1980’s, we had the only house on the long and narrow road. Now the neighborhood has hundreds of houses. A lot of things have changed since we moved to San Francisco 40 years ago. When my husband and I moved to California, marijuana was still prohibited. In the last few decades, marijuana laws have changed drastically. First it was medically legal and then California became one of the first states to allow sales of recreational marijuana. A lot of people decided to move to San Francisco after marijuana was allowed for recreational use. Around that time, the neighborhood started to boom with restaurants, bars, clothing shops, and boutiques. My kids have grown up in this city. San Francisco is all they have ever known in their lives. My son Zach recently started learning how to drive. My husband has the oldest car and it is a manual stick shift. Zach has been learning how to drive with the stick shift, but it has been a nightmare on the San Francisco hills. Last weekend, we went for a drive over by the wharf. Zach was extremely nervous, especially when we were the first car at a red light at the top of a hill. He tried to shift correctly, but the car rolled backwards and hit another driver.
