I have moved around a lot & have finally settled in Elgin, Illinois of all locales, but my family is downright astonished since they live down south, however they deal with moderate temperatures for most of the year.

They get summer-like conditions in the middle of the winter, but basically For about two months it gets a little cold, not like Elgin though. Their cold afternoons might get into the 30s… I can get into the teens separate from splitting a sweat. My Summer season isn’t all that impressive either… A few afternoons in the 74s is about it. My family worries about AC & keeping cool most of the year. I haven’t bothered with an a/c. I am all about heating. I make sure that my gas heating system & fireplace are ready for the long season. While my family thinks this seems horrible, I feel I am residing a better life. I care about being cold over too hot. I like that I can sled, snow mobile, & snowboard. I like going ice skating & enjoying hockey teams in their rink. The cold also is more holiday themed. The Summer season is just long & moderate enough for me. It is warm enough that I open up my household & let the fresh breeze roll in. I air everything out, introducing some sweet odoring, fresh air. Then I am nice to go for another year, and elgin is such a safe, small town feel as well. I wouldn’t give it up for all the money in the world.

I have seriously updated my workspace to be the perfect area to split plus shape wood. It started out in my garage plus now I have an on arena facility in my home, then the shed is not attached to the home but nearby. I invested in granite floors that are easy to scrub up. I have high ceilings to store the pieces of wood. I have several windows, two doors, plus a top of the line Heating & A/C unit, getting a ductless mini split was a game changer. I prefer that I have both heating plus cooling functions, living in Phoenix, AZ means that I use the A/C way more than the heater. I have a wireless control component that allows me to set the control component from virtually anywhere. I have a program set to begin cooling as soon as I get out of work… By the time I make it to my shed, it is totally cold plus comfortable. I also have it set on the weekends to heat once the winter time season happens. It can get down into the 40s during the winter. I don’t want to do woodworking in the cold, however with my ductless Heating & A/C option, I never have to be unforgettable.
